As more and more social media platforms and digital services emerge, the ways to reach and engage with your customers will become more complex. Five years ago marketing professionals would have recommended you create a blog and start a business Facebook page to reach more people. According to MarketingProfs today there are over 2 million blog posts written every day making it very hard to break through the clutter. Don’t worry, there is still hope for you! A recent study by Hootsuite revealed that by 2019 80% of internet traffic will be generated by video!
Now has never been a better time to start implementing video marketing strategies, here are some ideas to get you started:
Start a YouTube or Vimeo channel for your business
The most popular option would be to set up a YouTube business channel however Vimeo has some perks as well depending on your goals and budget. Vimeo’s greatest perks are that audience is more mature, there are no ads, and you can password protect your content. Keep in mind that YouTube is the market leader when it comes to watching videos online. YouTube reports that video views on their platform increase by 100% each year! If you are selling a product that may require some special treatment or has specific assembly instructions then filming a useful tutorial can do wonders. Even if you aren’t selling a product that requires assembly you can film yourself showcasing the many uses your product has. For example, if you sell outdoor grills you could set up a channel that shows people how to marinate and grill steaks. The key thing to remember when filming a video is to offer useful content, just showing your product isn’t enough.
Leverage Facebook Live
Arguably one of the fastest ways to reach your customers for free besides an all-out viral video is using Facebook Live. Use this Facebook feature to grow in popularity. Your content will get preferential treatment over a regular post. Just for perspective, my own Facebook business page gets almost double the reach when I use Facebook live compared to an image post.
Not sure what to post? This is a great feature if you are getting ready to launch a new product and want to get some feedback or are promoting an early bird special. Another option I’ve seen well executed is showing a live tutorial of how to do something using your product. For example, a Facebook page I like to follow is Adobe Illustrator and they will occasionally have a live session with a professional designer to show us how to build something using Illustrator. It’s an amazing experience for the users because they can ask questions and interact while seeing the skill performed in real time.
Place a video on your landing page
Want to take your conversion rates to a new level? Inbound marketing thought leader Hubspot revealed that “including a video on a landing page can increase conversions by 80%”. Conversions are the lifeblood for us digital marketers, if you aren’t converting traffic into sales you aren’t going to be very successful so a stat like that should get you excited! If you have no idea what I’m talking about that’s okay too! Digital marketing has become very complex, some business owners choose to do it themselves and others will outsource this work. If you would like to get started with video marketing but need some help just give us a call. Agencies can be a great alternative, especially for a small business that doesn’t have the time to learn digital marketing or the budget to invest in software.
